Institute of American Studies (IAS)

 


Institute of American Studies is part of the Faculty of Humanities at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. The primary goal of the Institute of American Studies is to provide Georgian society with accurate and appropriate information about all fields of American life including, U.S. history, its political system, legal structure, culture, civic education, educational system, etc.

 

Institute of American Studies (IAS) seeks to provide scientific and educational activities in the field of American Studies. IAS works to popularize knowledge of American Studies and American culture in all strata of Georgian society. The organization supports the introduction and development of democratic values in Georgia through using examples provided by the history of and contemporary life in the United States of America.

 

The IAS has been the coordinator of many activities, such as annual international conferences on American Studies, it has published seven issues of the Journal of American Studies (2002-2018), it has invited American and Georgian scholars to deliver lectures on several topics, and it has organized movie showings and discussions on topics pertaining to  American Studies on a weekly basis.

 

 

 

 

 

The Georgian Association for American Studies (GAAS)


The Georgian Association for American Studies was established in 2002 by the Center of American Studies of Tbilisi State University. The primary goal of the association is to provide Georgian society with accurate and appropriate information about all fields of American life including, U.S. history, its political system, legal structure, culture, civic education, educational system, etc.

The Georgian Association for American Studies (GAAS) is a non-governmental legal entity that seeks to provide scientific and educational activities in the field of American Studies. GAAS works to popularize knowledge of American Studies and American culture in all strata of Georgian society. The organization supports the introduction and development of democratic values in Georgia through using examples provided by the history of and contemporary life in the United States of America.
